Before you select an outcome
Start with a market you can read in full. Use How to Read a Polymarket Market Page to check the exact question, outcomes and resolution rules. The rules matter because they define what counts as Yes or No; a headline or a topic label does not do that on its own.
1. Open a market and choose Yes or No
Open the market page for the exact question you want to assess. Read the rules before selecting an outcome. Then choose Yes only if you want exposure to the question resolving Yes, or No only if you want exposure to it resolving No.
The next state should show an order panel or quote for that outcome. Check that the selected outcome still matches the question you read. Do not choose an outcome from a related market, a search result or a market card without reopening the full page and its rules.
2. Choose how the order should execute
An order designed for immediate execution tries to trade against offers already available in the market. A price-controlled order specifies the price you are willing to pay and can remain open until it matches, expires or you cancel the unfilled portion. The controls and names shown to you can change, so use the current order panel rather than an old screenshot or another person’s settings.
Immediate execution does not mean a guaranteed price or a guaranteed full fill. A price-controlled order does not mean it will fill at all. Available liquidity, the gap between buy and sell offers, and other participants’ orders can affect the result.
3. Review before confirming
Before you confirm, read the selected outcome, the amount you are committing, the displayed price or price limit, and any fee or total shown in the current order review. If any field is not what you intended, go back rather than trying to correct it after submission.
- Confirm that the market question and the selected Yes or No outcome agree with your intent.
- Check whether the order is intended to execute now or wait at a price you set.
- Check the amount and total cost shown in the current review.
- Read the market rules once more if the deadline, source or wording could change what resolves.
4. Check the position after the order
After submission, check the market and your positions for the outcome and quantity that actually filled. An order can match immediately, remain open, or fill only in part. Matching and final settlement are separate stages, so do not assume that an accepted order has completed every step just because it was submitted.
A practical completion check is that the position shows the intended market and outcome, with the filled amount you expected. If the order is still open, treat it as open—not as a completed purchase.
If an order does not fill as expected
First check whether the order is open, partially filled, cancelled or rejected in the current account view. Do not submit repeated orders just because the first one did not complete immediately. Review the current market conditions and the order details before deciding whether to leave, cancel or replace an unfilled amount.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a displayed market price guarantee my execution price?
No. An order can execute at an available ask or bid, partially fill, or remain unfilled depending on liquidity.
What should I read before choosing Yes or No?
Read the exact question, outcomes and resolution rules; the headline alone does not settle edge cases.
